Welcome to the Association OPEN DOOR


The Association Open Door exists to encourage the practical exchange of cultural information
and experience between French and English-speaking people residing permanently or part-time
in the Limousin and surrounding areas.





What we do

The Association Open Door exists to encourage the practical exchange of cultural information and experience between French and English-speaking people residing permanently or part-time in the Limousin and surrounding areas.

We do this in two ways:
- An English-language library with a stock of some 5,000 books and DVDs and a branch Bourganeuf.

- A wide range of cultural activities which enable people to experience each other's traditions and environments. To date these events have included visits to vineyards and places of historical and environmental interest; guided ornithological walks in French and English; an exhibition of paintings by Alastair Riley; Afternoon Teas; Burns Suppers; a celebration of the Beaujolais Nouveau; an evening of Occitan music, and readings from JRR Tolkien in French and English.

We constantly try to co-operate with other associations and welcome approaches for joint ventures from other similar organisations.
Nos buts

L'association Open Door a été créée pour encourager l'échange pratique d'informations et d'expériences culturelles entre les personnes francophones et anglophones résidant en permanence ou à temps partiel dans le Limousin et les régions avoisinantes.

Nous le faisons de deux manières :
- Une bibliothèque anglophone avec un fonds de quelque 5.000 livres et DVD et une antenne à Bourganeuf.

- Un large éventail d'activités culturelles qui permettent aux gens de découvrir les traditions et les environnements de chacun. À ce jour, ces événements comprennent des visites de vignobles et de lieux d'intérêt historique et environnemental, des promenades ornithologiques guidées en français et en anglais, une exposition de peintures d'Alastair Riley, des Afternoon Teas, des Burns Suppers, une célébration du Beaujolais Nouveau, une soirée de musique occitane et des lectures de JRR Tolkien en français et en anglais.

Nous essayons constamment de coopérer avec d'autres associations et nous accueillons volontiers les demandes d'entreprises communes émanant d'autres organisations similaires.
