The meeting opened at 17.10.  Peter explained that the meeting was to plan activities for the next calendar year, and he presented a list of activities suggested by himself and other members.   The 4 aims of the activities are: to involve the community; to encourage the use of the building for other purposes than as a library; to raise money; to attract more members.  6-8 events are suggested for the year.   We will liaise with the Mairie and other associations to ensure there are no conflicts.

January: Burns night (Thursday 25th January).  Saturday27th was provisionally selected, to avoid conflicts with other activities.  The supper will be open to all, and everyone will pay the same price.

The AGM will be held in January or February.  We discussed having a meal after the AGM, but decided it should be limited to business.
March:  No activities, as the weather can be poor. 

April: The last afternoon tea was very popular and raised 400 Euros.  We will hold another similar event, in April or May when the weather is improving.

We last did a bird walk at the end of May, but we could do one earlier, in April, and observe different birds.    
The silk screen painter, Alastair Riley, has volunteered to lead the walk, as the previous leader is unavailable.   He paints birds, and will hold an exhibition in April.  We discussed where a workshop could be held (Salle Polyvalente at Saint Pardoux) and where we could exhibit paintings (Morterolles). We discussed the possibility of having a marquee outside.  Joelle suggested asking the artist to view the facilities at the library and see if he could hold a demonstration there. 

June: To coincide with the Tolkien exhibition at Aubusson, we may be able to organise some event to promote Tolkien's work.  We need to source copies of his books for our shelves. Joelle pointed out that it would not be feasible to invite school groups: there are no toilet facilities; the room is too small, there are too many regulations regarding school visits, there is no transport.

July: To mark Bastille day we will hold a nocturnal vide grenier around 13th or 14th , in the afternoon/early evening.    People will sell good quality items for 1 - 10 Euros maximum, to discourage professionals.  We will serve soup/chili/other reasonably priced snack food.  We also considered other activities to keep people there, such as cake or jam competitions.   We will need to advertise comprehensively, with flyers and newspaper announcements. The Mairie will provide some free photocopies.

September: Workshops where questions on various topics can be answered, using the available expertise.  For example, computer problems, gardening questions, photography, walking in Creuse. 

October: Quiz evening (bilingual).  Or racing, or a Millionaires night, with casino games.  The participants purchase an entry ticket and are given tokens which they can use for the games.  The person with the most tokens at the end of the evening wins a prize such as a magnum of champagne. 
 November: A bonfire night is proposed at the Chateau of David and Leslie Lewis.  We may have to limit ourselves to a bonfire, with no fireworks, due to the cost.

On behalf of the Mairie,  Joelle asked us to get the details of our 2018 programme to her by 15th December.  Once dates are fixed, Peter will liaise with other associations to avoid conflict. Activities will be advertised in Le Pardollien and on the website.
In addition to the above, it was agreed that the association would hold a drinks evening once a month, from the New Year (details to be advised) from 17.00 to 19.00.

La réunion a débuté  à 17h10.  Peter a expliqué que le but de la réunion était de discuter les activités pour l'année 2018, et il a présenté une liste de suggestions.

Les 4 objectifs  des activités sont: impliquer la communauté, encourager l'emploi de la bibliothèque (bâtiment) pour d’autres activités, collecter des fonds, attirer des adhérents.
On prévoie 6 à 8 activités pendant l'année, en restant en contact avec la mairie et les autres associations pour éviter des conflits.

Janvier: Burns night (le 25).  Nous avons choisi provisoirement le 27.  Le repas sera ouvert pour tout le monde, ce sera le même prix pour tous.
L’ AGM sera en janvier ou février.  Pas de repas après, seulement la réunion.

Mars.  Vu le temps, pas d'activités en mars.

Avril.  Le dernier “Afternoon Tea” était très populaire et nous avons récolté 400 euros. Nous envisageons un autre “Tea” en avril ou mai, selon le temps.

La dernière promenade des oiseaux était en mai, mais nous pourrions la refaire en avril pour observer des oiseaux différents.  Alastair Riley, le seri-grapheur, veut bien nous guider.  Il fait des peintures d'oiseaux, et fera une exposition en avril.  Nous avons évoqué la possibilité de faire un atelier à St Pardoux dans la Salle Polyvalente, et une exposition à Morterolles.  Nous pourrions mettre une grande tente à l'extérieur de la bibliothèque.  Joelle a suggéré demander à l’artiste de visiter la bibliothèque afin de décider s'il pouvait y faire la démonstration. 
 
Juin. Pour coïncider avec l'exposition Tolkien à Aubusson, nous voudrions organiser un évènement pour célébrer l'œuvre de Tolkien.  Nous chercherons des copies de ses livres pour la bibliothèque.  Joelle a confirmé que ce ne sera pas possible d'inviter des groupes scolaires, par raison du  manque de toilettes, aucun transport, et les règlements compliquées concernant les visites  scolaires.

Juillet. Pour fêter le jour de l'indépendance, il y aura un vide grenier nocturne, le 13 ou le 14, dans l'après-midi et le soir.  Les adhérents y pourront vendre des articles de bonne qualité de 1 à 10 Euros maximums, pour décourager les professionnels.  Nous vendrons la soupe/chili/ des casse-croutes a prix modéré.
Il y a la possibilité d'autres activités tels que concours de gâteaux, ou de confitures. Nous devrons faire une publicité compréhensible, y compris des flyers et des annonces dans les journaux.  La mairie peut fournir des photocopies gratuites.
